He creates short animated infographics that bring information to life. Most often, these are
for current affairs and political satire programmes on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s television channel. Patrick compares them to short documentaries but made out graphics.

Asides from television, Patrick’s work has been screened internationally at a number of festivals, including the Porsche Student Awards in Germany and OneDotZero Festival in London.

Patrick’s plan for the UK is three-fold - work, consult and collaborate.

Here’s one of Patrick’s best-known pieces, shown on ABC’s Hungry Beast…

Kumiko and the Dragon, a short children’s novel written for a university writing assignment, won the 2006 Youth Literature Festival competition for unpublished stories. Renowned children’s editor Leonie Tyle, subsequently approached Briony with a publication offer.

In 2008, her first self-written an illustrated book, Kumiko and the Dragon, won an Aurealis Award for fantasy, and was listed as a notable book by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. The book has been translated into
German and Chinese, and recently became a trilogy, with my second book published in 2010 and the third in 2011.

Rubber House is a fresh animation studio in Melbourne, led by creative duo Gregory Sharp and Ivan Dixon.

The pair met while working on FX for a children’s television series, and soon found their quirky senses of humour and sideways approach to production complemented each other. Sharp and Dixon draw from a broad range of experience to provide hand-drawn animation and art direction for TV, film, interactivity, iPhone and iPad apps, storyboarding, concept art and character development.

In 2011, Rubber House created two animated film clips for the ARIA-winning musician, Goyte, and played live visuals at his Sydney Opera House Graphics Festival concert.

Here’s one of our favourite Goyte clips by Rubber House:

Fingers crossed, their visit to the UK will involve meeting the major players in commercial and creative animation including Passion Pictures and prolific Glasgow based animator Dave Ferguson (aka Swatpaz).
